Parent and Family Background
The prophet Micah lived in the kingdom of Judah. He was a farmer. Micah preached in Samaria, the capital of Israel and in Jerusalem, the capital of Judah. He reminded people about God’s goodness and justice.
In 721 B.C., Micah was saddened as the Assyrian army led the people of Israel into exile. He continued to warn the people of Judah. He told then that they too would suffer in the same way as the people of Israel if they were unfaithful to God.
In this passage, Micah assures the people of Israel and Judah that God is always faithful. God will send a new leader who will bring peace. Then Micah tells the people what God expects of them. They must be just, and kind, and humble.
Micah
Micah 5:1-4 and 6:8
The prophet Micah told the people about God’s promises.
God will send us a new leader. This leader will be born in Bethlehem. He will stand firm. God will give him the strength to lead us, and he will bring us peace.
Then Micah told the people what God expects of them.
God asks us to do what is right. He wants us to be good and humble. We must always walk with God.
