Joseph of Arimathea
Luke 23:50-55
There was a man named Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a good and righteous man. He was looking for the kingdom of God. He was a member of the Sanhedrin. Yet, he had not agreed to Jesus’ crucifixion. He believed that Jesus deserved a proper burial.
So, Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. He took the body down from the cross. Then he wrapped it in a linen shroud. Joseph laid Jesus’ body in a rock-hewn tomb.
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed. They saw the tomb and they saw where Joseph laid the body. It was the day before the Sabbath, so the women planned to return in two days with spices and ointment to embalm the body.
