Each year during the last week of January,
the entire United States Catholic school system celebrates its many
achievements. This custom of celebrating Catholic Schools Week began
in 1974. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Character. Compassion. Values.” This
theme for Catholic Schools Week is especially relevant to the 21st century.
Catholic schools give us a long-range view of faithful living. They give
us guidance for our faith journey on earth. They help us respond to God’s
call to share in Jesus’ life and work.
The Body of Christ
“Now you are the body of Christ” 1
Corinthians 12:27a
God calls each of us to share in Jesus’ life and work. When we
live a faithful life of character, compassion and values, we continue
the work that Jesus began. We share God’s love with all those we
meet. Use the activity below to help you recognize the variety of ways
you can share in Jesus’ life and work.
