Catholic Schools Light the Way –Catholic Schools Week 2008 Baptism was the beginning of your journey as a child of God trying to follow the way Jesus shows us. Being a follower of Jesus takes effort everyday of our life. We must work at following Jesus just as we work at reading, math, science and spelling. To learn your math facts you may have to study them every day for twenty minutes until you know them by heart. Learning to follow the way of Jesus takes the same kind of concentration. Living Christ’s values takes practice. Your parents, principal and teachers want you to know how valuable it is to follow the way of Jesus. Daily they show you what it means to live in the light of Jesus, following in His way. Your Catholic School has two important tasks; one is to educate you in subjects like Reading and Math. The second task is to lead you to live your life in the way of Jesus. If your report card had a space for a grade in “Living the way of Jesus” would you be a bright student with an Excellent or Outstanding? You can be a shining light showing the way to Jesus. It’s your choice! Choose to “Light the Way” as Jesus did. Each day of Catholic Schools Week, make the world a brighter place for all by choosing to do a good work or saying good words. Color the day’s candle to show that you are choosing to light the way and will show this by your action. Color the heart when you have shown Jesus’ way through word and action.
