For it is into your hands
    we commend our brother Karol Joseph Wojtyla.
As your child, he grew in wisdom and grace,
As your child, he studied and learned,
As your child, he listened and prayed.

    we commend your servant Pope John Paul II.
As a man he heard your call,
As a man he stood with courage against the forces of evil,
As a man he led your people, the Church.

Glory and praise to you, O Lord!
For it is into your hands
    we commend our brother and your servant.
With all the saints, welcome him into the heavenly kingdom.
Let your words of welcome echo our words of farewell,
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
