Ordinary Time Part One Part one of Ordinary Time occurs between the end of the Christmas Season and the beginning of Lent. The meaning of Ordinary Time has nothing to do with mediocre rituals. Rather, Ordinary Time offers the best possible means to advance in holiness. This means Ordinary Time Part One includes the season between Advent and Christmas. It is that part of the liturgical year that corresponds to the events of Jesus’ public ministry and focuses on his preaching and healing. It is a unique opportunity to examine our call to discipleship in light of Jesus’ ministry. We examine our thoughts and actions as to the how well we give witness to God in our daily lives. Ordinary Time, Parts One and Two consist of the longest period during the liturgical year—a full 34 weeks.
