Peace
In
the gospels, many times Jesus greets people with the words, “Peace
be with you.” Bringing peace to people was one of Jesus’ most
important ministries. We too are called to continue Jesus’ ministry
and bring peace to one another. We must take a firm stand against violence
and hatred in our world.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called
children of God.” Matthew 5:9
• Involve the children in writing a group peace pledge. Try to be
specific. For example, you might include the following ideas.
... We will only say kind things
to one another.
... We will resolve conflicts peacefully and calmly.
... We will share. We will not tease each other.
• Incorporate sharing a sign of peace into prayer with the children.
• Talk to your parish leaders about becoming a peace site and planting
a peace pole.
