In November, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This is an appropriate time to remind the children that Eucharist means thanksgiving. Below are some activities that you can use to prepare for and celebrate Thanksgiving Day with the children.
1. Invite the children to share the names and stories of any people for whom they are thankful. Afterward, pray a litany of the people mentioned.
Leader: “For (name)”
All: “We thank you, Lord.”
2. Using the letters of the word Eucharist, invite the children to think of all the things for which they are thankful that begin with each letter. Spend a limited amount of time of each letter.
3. Pray together.
Loving God,
Send us your Spirit to help us recognize
all the wonderful gifts you have given to us.
Help us remember to always give you thanks and praise.
Guide our hands and hearts.
We ask your blessing upon us
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
